Nazgul Yussupova of Riverside Drive in Manhattan was the rear passenger in a Honda Civic that was rear-ended by a 2014 Infiniti shortly after 2:30 a.m. on northbound Route 15 in North Haven, Connecticut state police said.

The fatality occurred after an earlier crash in which the driver of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra was pulled over in the right shoulder near Exit 64 after she was involved in another accident. The driver of the Elantra,  Helen Loomis of East Haven, had exited the vehicle to speak with the driver of the other vehicle involved in that crash.

At that time, a Toyota Camry, traveling in the left lane was slowing for traffic.

A fourth car, the Infiniti, was in the left lane when behind the Camry and failed to slow for traffic. It then struck the Civic, before spinning out of control and then hitting the unoccupied Elantra, pushing into Loomis as she was standing next to her car, state police said.

Loomis, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital along with two other drivers involved.
